Have Your Say this Tuesday Feb. 23 re: Biking/walking infrastructure on York Road

OK… not specifically a Ward Two issue… but anyone in Twoville interested in our active transportation networks throughout the Royal City might be interested in this. –

An important Open House is taking place this Tuesday, Feb. 23 and we hope to see you there.  Your input matters!

The City of Guelph is planning improvements to York Road between Victoria Road and Watson Parkway.

So far, the plans call for a 4 lane road with a 1.5 metre painted bike lane on either side.

This stretch of road, due to the volume, speed, and type of traffic (cars and large trucks) would be better suited to separated walking and cycling infrastructure.

As well, this section of York road runs alongside the beautiful Clythe creek, the old Ontario Reformatory lands, and scenic parkland. Therefore, a multi-use path south of York, for example, could be a much more pleasurable way to travel.

We would like you to come out and share your opinion on this important stretch of York Road.  GCAT members will be there for you to speak with as well.

Here are the details:

Date:  Feb. 23, 2016
Time:  6-8pm
Location: City Hall, Rm. 112
1 Carden Street
