The City of Guelph’s Outside Water Use Program is now in effect for spring and summer, and with it, a chance to win a rain barrel.
“To launch the 2014 outside water use season, the City is giving Guelph residents a chance to win one of five rain barrels,” noted Wayne Galliher, Water Conservation Program Manager for the City of Guelph. “We’ve created an online quiz to help remind residents of the program details and introduce some new pieces. After completing the quiz, residents can enter to win a rain barrel—regardless of their score.”
Following a By-law review in 2013, changes to the Outside Water Use Program for 2014 include a ban on at–home vehicle washing during Level 2 Red drought conditions, and allowance for watering food gardens and trees at all levels.
New road sign illustrations will soon be posted around the City indicating the permissions and restrictions for the most common outside water uses during the current program level: lawn, garden and tree watering, and at¬–home car washing.
To access the quiz and rain barrel giveaway guidelines, view the road sign illustrations, or get details on outside water use permissions and restrictions, check out the Outside Water Use Program at guelph.ca/water.
The current outside water use level is Level 0 Blue, careful use. The rain barrel giveaway closes May 31 at 11:59 p.m.
