DGBA press release.
The second annual Victory Art Crawl will take place from Monday, May 5 to Saturday, May 10 at four Downtown Guelph locations. The exhibit will feature the work of over 300 Victory Public School students, with all pieces available to purchase on a pay-what-you-can-basis. The art crawl venues include The Woolwich Arrow, On the Verge, 35 Quebec Street (Pop-up Gallery) and The Bookshelf.
This parent-driven initiative marries creativity, collaboration and social change. Instructors from the Guelph School of Art developed age-appropriate art projects, teaching the students about art history, painting techniques and various artistic mediums. Victory students also learned about a number of non-profit organizations, ultimately casting a vote for their charities of choice. All art sale proceeds will be donated to KidsAbility and The Stephen Lewis Foundation.
Mary Calarco, member of the Victory Art Crawl Committee, says “the kids really enjoyed creating with their classmates and families love seeing the work on display in a public setting. It adds so much to their experience”.
All art sales will be processed at the art crawl headquarters at 35 Quebec Street between May 5-10 (weekdays 12pm-2:30pm and 5pm – 7pm, Saturday 10am – 5pm). A reception will also be held at 35 Quebec Street on Saturday May 10 from 10am – 5pm to coincide with Downtown Gives Back. All are welcome to attend.
