Due to excessive rainfall amounts received over the past few days, the City’s sports fields and ball diamonds will remain closed throughout the weekend and including Monday, May 5.
Although the rain has helped to remove any remaining frost in the ground it has also left the fields and diamonds saturated—making it difficult for our staff to complete grooming operations already underway.
On Monday, staff will reassess the condition of the playing fields to determine whether or not the fields can begin opening on Tuesday, May 6.
Scheduled opening dates can be found at guelph.ca/seasonal/sports-field-status. However, these dates are subject to change as per weather and soil conditions. Updates are provided twice weekly on a field-by-field basis.
