The City of Guelph is looking for volunteers to help pick up litter during the eleventh annual Clean & Green Community Clean Up event.
Residents have until Thursday, April 17 to register in this year’s Clean and Green Community Clean Up. Volunteers can register by calling the Public Works department at 519-837-5628 x 3305 or going online to guelph.ca.
Upon registration, the City will provide volunteers with clean up supplies and instructions for safely collecting litter.
The City of Guelph, together with Tim Horton’s, Bag Ladies (a division of Al-Pack), Guelph & Wellington Development Association, Terra View Homes, Zehrs Markets – Imperial Road, Guelph Downtown Business Association and M&M Meat Shops, is hosting the city-wide clean-up to help fight litter in our community.
The clean-up will take place on Saturday, April 26 from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Clean-up crews will pick up litter in parks and along predetermined roadways and boulevards that are in need of spring cleaning. The City will host an appreciation barbecue for volunteers following the event.
Litter will be collected in brightly coloured garbage bags so that passersby can easily see the amount of litter that was strewn throughout the city.
“The Clean & Green Community Clean Up is one of Guelph’s largest community clean up events. Last year, over 3,600 kilograms of garbage was removed from neighbourhood streets, green spaces and community parks, by more than 950 volunteers helping to ensure more enjoyable common spaces for everyone,” explained Lucy Meyer, Supervisor of Administration at Public Works.
