St. Patrick’s Day Update

Memo from the Chief.

Please be advised that the St. Patrick’s Day plan wrapped up at 3am with no major incidents and no staffing implications.

A full statistical review will be presented to the Police Services Board but a quick snapshot:

37 Liquor Licence Act offence notices issued;
8 City of Guelph By-law offence notices issued;
5 Highway Traffic Act offence notices issued at RIDE;
4 criminal impaired driving charges laid;
2 other criminal code charges laid;
8 intoxicated persons arrested for their personal safety;
Prisoner care and control area at capacity at 2:15am;
Keg parties disrupted at:
Thornberry Drive
Essex Street
Youngman Drive
College Avenue
Late night busing very successful with support of Central Students Association;
No police overtime incurred.

Special thanks to University of Guelph, Downtown BIA, Nightlife Task Force, Guelph Transit, Guelph By-law, Public Works and Emergency Services for their assistance, collaboration and support of the community safety plan.

Overall – we believe the proactive planning ensured a safe and fun event with a little luck of the Irish with cooler temperatures.
