Guelph Urban Forest Friends, with the sponsorship of Guelph Historical Society, Waterloo Wellington Wildflower Society and Brisson and Leis Optometrists, presents:
Respect Your Elders: Ways to Save Our Big Old Trees
Join us for this free presentation on how urban trees age and how older trees can be safely maintained. We’ll also learn about innovative techniques that can help to assess the risks of aging trees. The presenter is Philip Van Wassenaer, Founder and Consulting Arborist, Urban Forest Innovations, the group behind our new Urban Forest Management Plan.
The ecological and human benefits of our city trees grow with the increase in tree size and leaf area. Maintaining big, old trees in the city is a priority in order to reach our goal of 40% canopy coverage. Philip has over 20 years experience as a practicing arborist and is an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist and a member
of the prestigious American Society of Consulting Arborists (ASCA).
