The City of Guelph is pleased to welcome back University of Guelph students to the city. As many students are avid transit users, Guelph Transit increases service in the university areas during the fall and winter semesters in an effort to ensure quality customer service for all passengers. Guelph transit riders can take advantage of enhanced transit services on four university express routes. The express routes are designed to accommodate the increase in passengers by providing service every 20 minutes between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m., Monday to Friday. These routes operate from September to April, with the exception of winter break, reading week, and statutory and civic holidays.
Even with more buses on the road, buses may still reach capacity before arriving at the University Centre or Guelph Central Station. When a bus reaches standing capacity, the destination sign will read “Sorry, Bus Full” and drivers will not pick up additional passengers until it is safe to do so.
To make room for passengers to board the bus safely, Guelph Transit asks riders to move to the back of the bus, fill in all vacant seats, and refrain from crowding near the doors and in the priority and courtesy seating areas. Priority seating is designated for use by passengers with a disability. Courtesy seating is for passengers who might otherwise benefit from a seat, such as seniors, pregnant women and parents travelling with young children.
It is recommended passengers arrive at their bus stop five minutes before the bus is scheduled to arrive, and to consider taking an earlier bus during peak service times to ensure that they arrive at their destination on time.
