Buy local, buy fresh!

The Wellington County’s Buy Local! Buy Fresh! Map has grown by leaps and bounds over its three year history. With only a few thousand copies left of 30,000, the BL!BF! Map has helped the current local food movement come to fruition. This is your invite to come and enjoy two new initiatives this year that have sprung out of the BL!BF! Map to celebrate the Harvest Season.

The Guelph Jazz Festival’s popular outdoor Jazz tent on Wyndham Street in downtown Guelph will feature the Seeds of Change food tent on Saturday September 8th from 11:30am-7:00pm. The tent will feature the culinary delights of regional chefs working with local food. The tent is sponsored by the Rural Urban Committee of the Guelph Rotary Club and is sure to be a hit. It is a free family event with food and beer tickets available for purchase. Come have a taste of Wellington and enjoy Jazz on Wyndham!

The Wellington Rural Romp is the second new feature for 2007. On Saturday September 29th from 11am-4pm the public can enjoy a self guided tour of local farms and explore what Wellington County has to offer! There are 16 regional farms and markets to explore with 4 suggested itineraries. The Rural Romp has something for everyone to enjoy including corn mazes, wagon rides, taste testing and kids activities. Everything from alpacas to ostriches, goats to sheep can be found along the tour. Don’t forget your cooler to take home some farm fresh goodies. Pick up your Rural Romp Passport at any participating farm and have it stamped at three or more locations for your chance to win some great prizes! All Rural Romp information can be found on the 2007 Buy Local! Buy Fresh! Map or by visiting
