COC & pesticides & hydro

Last year, June 26th , Council of Canadians wrote to you about the threat to the independence of our municipal government from the Trade, Investment and Labour Mobility Agreement.
Since Canada is harmonizing our pesticide limits with the U.S and Mexico under the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP), we will be obliged to raise our limits [...]

Provincial Pesticide Legislation

Staff have had a brief opportunity to review the MOE documentation regarding pesticide legislation. The announcement only conveys the Ministry’s intent to table an Act through the legislature and hopefully have it in place for 2009. As a professional horticulturist, I find it unacceptable that many in my trade find it necessary to use such vast amounts of pesticides in [...]

Pesticide by-law

I am submitting the following comments about the infestation guidelines for the pesticide by-law which were published in the Guelph Tribune.
As a former public health nurse, I am very concerned about the use of pesticides and their effects on human health and the environment. I strongly support the ban on the use of cosmetic pesticides [...]
