21-22 Feb Winter Control UPDATE

Just a quick update on current and future winter control activities. Starting with the weather, after a 24 hour period of dry conditions, the forecast is calling for 1-2 cm of wet snow followed by 2 cm of rain in the 12-24 hrs as temperatures increase to a high of 4C. The expectation is that the snow will not accumulate but instead melt, assisted by the rain. Freezing rain is not forecasted.

This morning the Public Works staff were putting down anti-icing material on bridge decks and known trouble areas on the high priority routes, so we are prepared for any snow accumulation that may occur. Temperatures are forecasted to remain above 0C until early tomorrow morning. We will keep an eye on the dew point temperatures so that we can stay on top of any potential black ice that may form.
