Body rub by-law and holistic practices

Last night I attended the city hall meeting which was supposed to include discussion of the licensing of Holistic and complementary practices in the city of Guelph( referred to by the city as Alternative). As I sat there I was surprised and upset to discover that this was not the real issue at all. The city of Guelph has not dealt with the issue of body rub parlours as adult entertainment and is somehow trying to enact a bylaw that restricts and uses the issue of licensing wellness centers and holistic practitioners rather than dealing with the real issue.

The city of Guelph is a unique community and it is beneath our city to follow in other municipalities footsteps by trying to make to this issue go away by imposing fees and restrictions on Legitimate Holistic and Complementary health care professionals.

If the city creates a by law specifically for the body rub industry then they have a much better chance of regulating and policing this industry. We are not part of the adult entrainment industry and do not wish to be categorized in any way with it. We are not alternative either. Please, please, please, deal with the issues of Licensing Wellness centers and practitioners and the licensing of Body rub parlours as separate issues.

Body Rub parlours operate within the city of Guelph unregulated and unlicensed, This is the issue at hand and it must be dealt with. They are here, they are not regulated, and we cannot keep our heads buried in the sand. Licensing and regulating Wellness centers and holistic practitioner is a separate issue and should be dealt with as such.

I am happy to consult with anyone from city hall who would appreciate my input.     BM
